Freedom Days, Colonial Days educate and entertain
Provo's Center Street swarmed with visitors on Saturday, July 2, 2011 as the annual Freedom Days and Colonial Days events took place. As part of America's Freedom Festival at Provo, the two events entertained visitors with live performances, vendors, rides, displays, and crafts. In addition, several attractions were also educational. Carl Timmerman of the Western Military History Association has been educating visitors on the significance of America's fight for freedom at the annual Colonial Days event for several years now.
"It really chokes you up to see people come up and learn," Timmerman said. "It makes you feel good."
Colonial Days displayed an impressive amount of real artifacts from the 1600's through 1790, and even included live demonstrations of Native American Hoop Dancing and a colonial nine pounder cannon.
Colonial Days, as well as Freedom Days, will continue at 10 am on Monday, July 4, 2011 at 275 E. Center Street and at the intersection of Center Street and University Avenue, respectively.

In Reinhardt's generation, Gypsies who lived in France didn't generally regard themselves as Frenchmen or even Europeans, but "Manoir" (aka "Castle of My Dreams") shows that Reinhardt was a close cousin of Ravel and Debussy.
George Washington strolled the lawn, played by Bill Agress, while live music was played by The Rocky River Gypsies. The band also led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to America, which was followed by a generous helping of cake.

While researching the man's life in the morgue of the Meridian Star, Bill found an old newspaper article that ignited his imagination - the death and burial of Kelly Mitchell, the last queen of the Romany Gypsies in North America.
Once departed, we're gypsies while traveling to our new destination. One July, I pulled a trailer stuffed with a Harley, toys and bedding behind my old Cherokee. Early into the trip, my wife, Tina, cruised by as I limped up a mountain at a whopping 20
UPDATE: Gypsies once again spotted outside the main Post Office in ...
Who was begging for money outside the main Concord Post Office with her sick baby. When she was arrested, the woman & her husband were found with several hundred dollars in their pockets, according to the Concord Police Department. At the time of the story, there wasn’t any way to confirm that she was connected to a larger group of gypsies, who might be using the women and children to get money.
Fast forward to today (Saturday). Another woman, who told a witness she was from Romania, was seen begging outside of the main Concord Post Office with a baby. The Concord Police were called, but before they arrived, the woman went over the the Home Depot parking lot, where she got inside a green Dodge Caravan with a male driver. The van then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Sounds like we might have a growing problem with beggars from Romania who seem to be using their small, sick children to get money. This is a huge problem in Europe, and now it seems to be coming to CLAYCORD.
Let us know if you see any women with children begging around our area, but be sure to call the police before you alert us!
They are infront of Pittsburg Winco roaming the parking lots everytime I get groceries…Being a single mom, I am all for helping out another parent in need because I know how hard it can be, but it absolutely disgusts me to see an adult “BEG” for money with their children present. What has this world come to? Everytime one asks me for money I pretty much flip out on them and call them horrible parents and tell them they should be ashamed of themselves and to get a real job and be a positive influence on their kids.
Some people….
I noticed a woman with a sleeping child in a stroller asking for money at the front door of CVS. I thought I heard a distinct Indian accent at first. She had a sign but actively engaged customers entering CVS in a conversation. For a moment, I thought it was strange for an Indian woman to be out panhandling, until my wife reminded me that Roma (gypsies) originated from northwestern India. Unusual that this is happening in the Bay Area. Quite common in Europe, especially in large cities such as Rome and Paris. This is organized panhandling. A carabnieri in Rome, told me to look around and you’ll see the “handler” within line of sight of the woman with child – usually a van or soccer mom type of car to quickly load up the stroller and move to the next location.
