Adventure Time: the Top 10 moments
In honor of Adventure Time's upcoming Season Three premiere on Cartoon Network (July 11th at 8pm), let's countdown its best moments to date.
If you look up Adventure Time on Netflix, you'll find it placed under the Family and Kids category. I suppose this makes sense. I mean, it's like putting Cthullu in a children's zoo. You just need a sign to warn people that gazing at it could lead to fits of insanity, convulsions, and uncontrollable bowels.
This potential also exists in watching Adventure Time, if in a more fun and kinky way. Adventure Time is one of Cartoon Network's most most successful ventures to date: it ranked number one in its time slot for boys age 10-14 demographic on June 20th, for example.
Now the new season readies to have the boys experience further escapist adventures in the Land of Oo with Fin and Jake. Adventure Time covers the adventures of the human boy Finn and his shape-shifting dog companion, Jake. The two explore the post-apocalyptic world of Oo to save various princesses and stop the creepy Ice King from freezing his icicles in Princess Bubblegum's mush. Wait... what? That last part should make you cringe and laugh at the same time. Adventure Time hearkens back to days where contemporary cartoons not only entertained the kiddies, but also tickled adult's intellect as well. It's more accurate to say Adventure Time tickles the funny bones of geek “adultolescents” because the story lines feel like something out of a college student's Dungeons and Dragons session. With that said, the show's writing has improved and the show has become something more akin to a humorous He-Man parody except with better story structure. Well, if said story contained dark and twisted abominations wanting to rule a world of cotton candy people.
Let's countdown the top ten moments of the show so far.
10. Gunter's pregnancy in “The Chamber of the Frozen Blades”
Who would of thought Gunter could become pregnant? Who would of thought Gunter had female sex organs? Who would think this episode was written after a hooka fest? After taking Gunter to the hospital run by golem nurses, the Ice King discovers his loyal familiar is pregnant. What hatches is a weird, glowing cat... thingie. Apparently, Gunter the penguin enjoys cats a little too much.
9. The episode “Trouble's in Lumpy Space”
Finn and Jake's adventure into the Lumpy Space world seems to embody a lot of teen pop culture trends. From the smoothe poseurs to the faux-teenage girl talk, everything about this world reeks of the social satire of our youth culture. Easily one of the more quotable episodes in the series, fans have posted countless videos showing off their own Lumpy Space Princess impersonations. Lumpy Space Princess is a Lumpin' diva.

6zai: McDonalds Animated Joy is a Gift
Apple Tree is an animated celebration of life, following the birth of an apple tree from seedling to stick to multi-branched adult sprouting leaves high off the ground. The tree, set in a hilly, pastoral land, grows strong enough to support a young family of birds, who build their nest and hatch a trio of youngsters as the leaves fly off, snow falls, and spring, eventually, arrives. Set to the jolly notes of “I’m gonna be like an apple tree…” an apple grows and falls into the nest, morphing into a collection of apple slices and a jug of yogurt. Mother bird lifts these off the ground, where the nest transforms into a Happy Meal and the youngsters flutter around her. Suzi Van Zoom is a faster-paced adventure, in which two parents are left to scramble after their adventurous daughter once they decide to strip the training wheels off her bike. As a catchy song bumps along in the background, the little one careens through a neighbor’s house and into a zoo, where she sets a pack of animals loose. The ragged collection of giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, gazelles and penguins can only hurdle along with her parents as the youngster flies across the terrain, finally stopping to sate her growing appetite with a McDonald’s Happy Meal. Spaceman Stu, released in 2010, is set in an illustrated universe of a child’s vivid imagination; a stylized and slightly disproportionate world in which fantastical stars hover around the characters and gravity works selectively. The spot stars a character that hovers impossibly over the globe and inside of a McDonald’s, smiling as he enjoys his Happy Meal. Animation for Apple Tree and Suzi Van Zoom was produced at Kompost via Duck Studios, with executive producer Mark Medernach, production manager April Rudolph, director/art director Oliver Conrad, executive producer Gian Klainguti, VFX supervisor Kenneth Polonski, lead FX Christopher Soyer, Technical Director: Andrei Savu, Lead Animator: Laszlo Nyikos, Animator: Gabor Lendvai, Rigger: Boris Ignatovic, Compositor: Jan Glöckner, Dirk Becker, Modeler: Marko Todorovic, Adam Juhasz, Texturing: Joffrey Jans, Rebekka Keusch Animation for Bebe was produced by Screen Novelties team Seamus Walsh, Chris Finnegan, Mark Caballero, via Duck Studios , Los Angeles, with director of photography Ralph Kaechele and executive producer Mark Medernach.
