Boy Scout Troop 109 visits Niagara Falls, Canada

MILLBURY, Mass. - The Boy Scouts of Troop 109, together with Scout Leaders, parents and some Cub Scout participation went on their annual "Fun Trip" to Niagara Falls, Canada last weekend.

The Scouts and entourage, packed up on a large tour bus and left Millbury early on Friday morning. Going through customs and the passport station was surprisingly a short process. Many of the Scouts asked the Canadian customs officers a myriad of questions and the officers patiently answered them all, of course while good naturedly ribbing the tour group about a preponderance of Bruins shirts in attendance.

After settling into the hotel in town on Friday evening, the Scouts enjoyed a dinner at a nearby restaurant and then got to enjoy the night views of the falls, while from the Canadian side, there were many different colored spotlights shown on the water cascading over the drop on each side. Then the group was entertained by a large fireworks display, followed by a walking tour of the downtown area.

On Saturday, the Scouts boarded ships for the "Maid of the Mist" tour, where ships traveled almost right under the falls with a full load of passengers, guaranteeing that everyone on board would be soaked, which was great fun for all involved. Then the Scouts did a walking tour behind the falls, where tunnels have been carved through the stone and the openings have the water from the falls about 3-4 feet in front of you.

Farther down the tunnel, there was an observation deck, where the Scouts could stand just a few feet from the falls and feel the awesome power of the water falling. Saturday night was a repeat from the night before.

Sunday morning the Scouts were invited to church right off of Lundy's Lane in the downtown area. Immediately after that it was boarding the buses for the long journey home. Arriving back in Millbury at nearly 10:30 p.m., it was a tired group of Scouts, Scout Leaders and parents that arrived but they had forged many pleasant memories and look forward to their next great adventrue.

Every time I buy stuff from Guitar Center, I just name my own price. The salesman will ask his manager, and 90% of the time, they’ll give me a price within a few bucks of my low-ball price !
