HOLYROOD -- Nels Christian Anderson, 87, of Holyrood, died Friday, July 1, 2011, in Hays. He was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Lincoln County to Peter C. and Mabel (Larsen) Anderson. He was a Holyrood resident from 1952 to 1960 and returned in 1997, after retiring as a well superintendent for Costal Oil Co. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and a member of Holyrood American Legion Post No. 200 and Ellsworth Masonic Lodge 146.
On April 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Fortner in Searcy County, Ark. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Bill Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ron Anderson of Beaverton, Ore.; a stepgrandson, Marc Dieter, of Columbia, Mo.; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Harold; and a grandson, Jason. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Holyrood.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holyrood American Legion Post No. 200 or Ellsworth Masonic Lodge, in care of Parsons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth, 67439.

TIPTON -- Eleanora Marie Arnoldy, 81, of Tipton, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011, in Richardson, Texas. She was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Tipton to Anton and Marie (Urban) Cordel.
Those preceding her in death were: her husband, Marceline, in 1988; a daughter, Jeanne Arnoldy, in 1997; a brother, Arnold Cordel, in 1971; and a sister, Cecelia Harris, in 2000.
Survivors include six sons, Paul, of Udall, Richard, of Lebanon, Ohio, Anton, of Brownsburg, Ind., Steven, of Keller, Texas, Daniel, of Sanger, Texas, and Ronald, of Barstow, Calif.; three daughters, Sandra Wirtz, of Richardson, Texas, Renee Langefels of Chandler, Ariz., and Susan Babcock, of Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Anna Gasper, of Beloit, Alice Griffin, of Asheville, N.C., and Mildred Ramsey, of Junction City, Ore.; a brother, Edward Cordel, of Beloit; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, in Tipton. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at the church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church and Tipton High School. Domoney Funeral Home, of Downs, is handling arrangements.

A St. Louis area car accident injured three people, two seriously, on a highway outer road in Jefferson County.
This Jefferson County, Mo car accident occurred as two oncoming vehicles clipped each other when one crossed the center line, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Nicole Isbell, 16, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on the outer road. The second car was a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by Denise Price, 43. As the two vehicles were about to pass each other, Isbell's car drifted across the center line and clipped the driver's side of Price's vehicle. Price's car then spun out of control off the right side of the roadway and into a rock bluff.
Price and a passenger in her car, Jeremy Price, 9, both suffered significant injury and were taken to local hospitals. Isbell's injuries were relatively minor, but she was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both drivers' insurance was listed as unknown in the initial crash report, but no citation for uninsured driving was noted.
