Some dressed in frills and lace, some put it in tunics and leggings. But almost all the scores of candidates in the Times release "Dress Lauren Alaina" Free paper doll contest was the "American Idol" stars in fancy dresses and cowboy boots.

Lauren Alaina Suddeth, the 17 year old Rossville, Georgia, native showed a penchant for frilly dresses and shoes to compete in the West this season 10 of "American Idol".

On July 17, the Times Free Press features a cutting Suddeth for readers to dress using their own creativity.Many stuck to a cardboard cut and dress the paper doll in fashion from casual to exotic. Entries were judged by staff design time Free Press.

In a recent interview, Suddeth said that if she chose the winner of paper dolls, she looks for "a short floral dress with cowboy boots or something similar, I'm going to the ball, but the country to research. "

Christian Schmidt, 10, of Chattanooga, created a look that fit the bill. She won first place and received two tickets to the American Idol live show Saturday at the Nashville Arena Bridgestone.

"I love Lauren Alaina," the excited 10-year-old said in an interview. "I have not missed an episode of 'American Idol' this season."

The Red Bank Elementary School fifth-grader said she is familiar with the style of the singer.

"I call it a glittering cowgirl because she loves cowboy boots with all these bright pink covered with sequins. I wanted to make it look something like her dress would find.And I doubt he wanted poofy. "

Christiana said she was delighted to see in concert Suddeth.

"My grandmother (Julie Schmidt Rossville) took me to Coolidge Park to see Lauren Alaina when she returned home, and we also went to the parade in Fort Oglethorpe. It was really crowded and hard to see, but I had to hear her sing. "

Nominations were submitted by males and females from ages 7 to 92.

Rita Smith, 92, of Signal Mountain, said she is a fan of "American Idol" and supports Suddeth since the beginning of the season.

"I watched every week and be with Lauren Alaina so close to our house, I wanted to support her all I could," said Smith. "I think it is a very sweet girl, and I think it's great that everything came together for her. So when I read the newspaper about the contest, I knew it would be fun to see if I could make a likeness of her.

I've had Ranger's Gloss Paper for a loooong time, but hadn't experimented with it yet.  When I saw this week's GM13 challenge, I knew it was the perfect time to bust it open.  I have to say, Tim Holtz made it look really easy to get a gorgeous background with just a few drops of alcohol ink and a felt blender in his tutorial .  I, however, ended up with a splotchy, ugly mess.  Maybe I was working too large for my first go.  Or, I don't have the magical powers of Tim.  But, I was NOT going to be defeated by a piece of paper!  I blended, I pounced, I blended and pounced some more.  Then, in desperation, I just dribbled the ink directly onto the paper...and ahhh, success!  I love the effect of the ink blots! The flowers and "Hello" are stamped using StazOn Jet Black.  Make sure to always use a permanent ink when stamping on glossy paper.  Press gently and take care...the ink wants to slide on the slick surface and you could easily end up with a smeared image.  Which would be a real bummer after all that blending and pouncing! The rhinestone flower centers were originally clear, but I used alcohol ink again to color them to match.
