Lost Liner Notes: "Armor of God" by Vakill
Heavy : "This is that straight up Hip Hop shit like 'The Creed,' but updated, originally it didn't even have any scratches... but to me it kinda commanded 'em. Lyrically, U wanted to just flip a few patterns and coast on here to show niggas Va' ain't no one-trick pony, I can structure bars in any format and flow. The crown don't move...the track is ocean breeze-smooth but rough in one sitting, like 'Creed' was, which is why 'Creed' to this day is such a huge [fan] favorite track in my discography. We never lose when we me and Panik cook up these type records...and this one actually has a bridge that slides the track right on home." ! I was like, 'Nigga, who the fuck is this?' He like, 'This my dude from finland his name is MGI. I was like, 'Tell fam send me some shit 'cause he killing everything you playing.' MGI sure enough sent me some joints but this one jumped out at me. I had this track forever and never touched it till I felt i was ready, took the shit to Vizion's crib and he fell in love wit' the shit. Me and him just click musically so i know what he gone go hard over and what he gone fall back on. Eventually, I laid my verse sent it to him and he took it from there. The vocals in the background is my homegirl Takenya. She brought her lil' niece in the booth and she was makin' her laugh while the engineer was cueing up the track. I loved her giggle so much I put in the intro to show the innocence of a child laughter that these endless roads of violence take away in the Chi every year The Apology: "My dude Joe Blow absolutely destroyed, mauled and mangled this shit! I think i had this beat for a about four or five years. It's that timeless. What I wanted to do with this basically is do what the forefathers of this gangsta shit, this gang culture couldn't do...apologize to the hood. Anybody that follows my music knows Don Nurda is a dude I created to play with on songs however I see fit... in this one he's a metaphor for the Larry Hoovers, Chief Malik's, King shory's. I just wanted to offset some of the shit that in which these gangs formed was post-Panther, so they had mitlitant mindsets and wanted to keep that presence felt in the hood. A lot of the gangs here were formed with intentions of strengthening tthe hood not breaking it down....the road to hell is always paved with good intentions.Full Armor Of God - News

Though it's no masterpiece outside of individual accomplishment, Armor of God demonstrates in full authority the lesser-known razor edge of the Chicago sound, and marks Vakill as a primary figure in driving the pulse of the city's reputation.

Aside from releasing three solo albums, he worked alongside the hip-hop collective The Molemen, and recently released his fourth solo album, Armor of God, on June 14th. Q: The album opens with a skit of a death and resurrection.
The organizations created the club to recognize individuals involved in a life-threatening experience on duty but were saved, at least in part, by wearing their protective body armor. “Tommy will be the first to tell you that he's here today for a lot
Putting on the Full Armor of God- Ephesians 6:10-18 | JCLU FOREVER
Can you imagine a medieval knight jousting without wearing his suit of armor? Can you imagine a football player trying to play a game without pads? Can you imagine a hockey goalie trying to play a game without protective gear? Each of these scenarios sounds fairly ridiculous. In each case, it is essential to the health and success of the person involved to use the “armor” that is available. Likewise, as we walk the Christian life, it is essential for us to use the “armor” that is available to us – the armor of God. In today’s key passage, the apostle Paul describes the armor that we have available as we go into battle against the powers of evil in this world. Today, let’s take a look at the armor that each of us has available to us:
The belt of truth – Satan often tries to attack us with lies, and sometimes we can all be fooled into thinking that these lies are true. When we have the truth of God’s Word to guide us, we can realize the difference between the lies and the truth and can remain strong.
The breastplate of righteousness – The enemy often tries to attack our hearts, but the righteousness that comes from God protects our hearts from these attacks. God has made us righteous not by our own actions but by the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. In this righteousness, we are guaranteed God’s approval.
The shoes of readiness – Satan wants us to believe that spreading the Gospel is too hard. He wants us to think we are not good enough to talk to other people about Christ. He wants us to think we do not know enough, or that we do not have the right personality. The shoes of readiness that God provides us gives us the motivation to spread the Gospel to others.
The shield of faith – We are often attacked by “the flaming arrows of the evil one”. (Vs. 16) These arrows can take the form of doubts, persecution, and temptations. Without a shield, these arrows would sink into our flesh and kill us. Fortunately, we have the shield of our faith in God. We know His promises for us, and we know that He never leaves us or forsakes us. This shield of our faith allows us to see past our current circumstances to an eternal reward.
The helmet of salvation – The enemy will try to attack our minds. He will try to make us doubt God. He will try to make us doubt ourselves. The helmet of salvation protects our minds from these attacks, and shows us that despite his lies, we are truly saved by God’s unfailing grace through faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
