Question: I had a fever blister on my mouth and then my neck became sore with some swelling under my jaw. Are these two things connected?
Answer: Yes, they probably are connected. A swollen gland could very well cause the swelling, which is actually an enlarged lymph node. Lymph nodes are glands that help your body to fight off infections. The lymph which is produced by the lymph nodes filters infections in your body.
Some of the most common areas to feel these glands include the groin, armpit, under the jaw and chin, behind the ears and on the back of the head. In the case of the fever blister or any infection of the mouth, you would probably feel the swollen gland in the neck area. There is a chain of lymph nodes on either side of the front of the neck, both sides of the neck, and down each side of the back of the neck.
The swelling from an infection is often accompanied by pain or tenderness which may last for a couple of days. The nodes may not return to their normal size for a couple of weeks, though.
You should consult your doctor if:
•Your swollen glands are red and tender.
•Your glands feel hard, irregular, or fixed in place.
•Your glands don’t get smaller after several weeks or continue to get larger.
•You have a fever, night sweats, or unexplained weight loss.
•Any node is larger than 1 cm in diameter in a child.

•someone recovering from an illness, surgery or hospital stay
•someone with a chronic condition such as diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, lupus and others
•an aging adult who is unable to care for themselves without some assistance
•someone with a terminal illness.
The type of home care service needed depends on factors such as the patient’s mental and physical health, the home environment, and available support from family or friends. Some may only require an occasional visit from a nurse to administer medication. Others may need more elaborate medical care or other types of support.

I am experiencing a swollen lymph node on the left lower side of my stomach. I have no idea what it is from or anything. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis though but I highly doubt that would be the cause of it. It’s been there for like a month or longer. It is starting to hurt me really bad. It is very tender to the touch. It also makes a disgusting sound like when your washing your hands and rub them together when I push on it. Does anybody know what this could be? Thank you
